Total Population Data

Annual population figures from 1900 forward are available for the following areas:

United States | South Dakota (statewide, the default option) | County | Metropolitan Statistical Area | Census Places | OR you may select an area from a map.

Retrievable Data

Population Demographics Data

Additionally, population estimates by age and gender from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey (ACS) are available in the virtual system for the following areas.

United States | South Dakota (statewide, the default option) | Census Places | County | Metropolitan Statistical Area | OR you may select an area from a map.

Population Projections

The U.S. Department of Labor contracts with the Census Data Center at South Dakota State University for the completion of population projections for the state of South Dakota and all of its counties. Contact them by phone at 605.688.4901 or by email at sdsudata@sdstate.edu.
